Maytag Refrigerator not cooling, freezer working though?

I have a Maytag ZigZag, model #MZD2766GEW, and from what I have read, these refrigerators just have issues and so my problem is pretty common. I read that I should defrost the coils, so I looked and sure enough they were covered in ice. I got the ice completely melted off but still there is no improvement in the fridge side. The freezer, however, works fine. The article I read said to replace the defrost component, but since I already did a manual defrost and it didn't help, I hate to throw money into replacement parts to keep that particular function working. I figure it has to be something else. Any ideas?
