Help! Everything I download is a WinZip file?

I was trying to learn how to put skins into bots on Star Wars Jedi Knight II (i could use some help on that as well please). An instruction from a website told me to open with Winzip and everything turned into winzip. Now whenever I download anything it's winzip how do i change it back?
