Specialization in psychiatry?

What is the average time frame on being a psychiatrist? And if i specialize in pediatric psychiatry, can i still have adult patients or will all my patients be kiddies? See, i'm also planning on being a pediatrician but i also want to be a psychiatrist to people of all ages (if possible, lol). So is that possible???
