Laying wood floor over indoor/outdoor carpet?

There is indoor/outdoor carpet glued over concrete slab in one bedroom. Can we lay a pergo type floor covering over it or does it need to be pulled up. Being he wood planks will be a floatng floor, would it make a difference if the carpet remained?
