Is it accurate to compare the IRA campaign to modern muslim terrorists?

Not its not even remotely close, but its understandable why Muslims will want to use this argument, they always want to create the image that other religions are as bad as theirs and such augment could convince a naive liberal that they are freedom fighters cause they sympathize with the IRA so the Muslims lie and play on this emotion.
