HELP!! I can't remember the title of this MOVIE?

It came out in 2008 or late 2007. It was a modern film about this white boy. The beginning, him and his mom were preparing for his high school graduation on their richy patio deck and then the story turns into how he was beaten into a coma I think. But the twist is---you think he's DEAD. But his subconscious disguised as his out of body experience tries to alert his girlfriend that he's still alive...it was really corny and badly put together but Im just tryna remember the title. He was like walking around as a ghost the entire movie tryna figure out how to connect to his friends and family so they could find where he was at. It was like a symbolic bird in it too.
