What does this question mean??

I went on a job interview today and the interviewing manager asked me a series of questions which were fine, but then she threw this one out at me..." When dealing with problems would you rather deal with ones on an abstract level or numerical?"....I gave her a really good answer even though I had no idea what it really meant....does anyone know what she could have meant by this?
